Pizza Tower (2023) *finished 3/13/2025*
- Someone outdid Wario Land...
- and made the movement like CRACK
- I've been enjoying this game a lot ty to my friend who gifted me the game for my bday
- the Wario platformers (and the character in general) have always been my favorite since playing "Shake It" on the Wii
- so to have Pizza Tower feels like the sequel I've been waiting for since....... 2008
- the artstyle is colorfully offputting (posi) I love the theming of Italian cusisine
- I just beat the first boss that fucking pepper whooped me
- my only caution to tell is that the movement took some time to get used to I'm still trying to master it
- but when you get that down and can speed through levels, it's extremely satisfying
- *post game update* the levels had fun gimmicks like having a gun and beating the time limit, a golf level, a monster chasing you if you trip an alarm
- Gustavo and Gallery my beloved duo
- Short and sweet with lots to collect afterwards
- one of the bosses called "the noise" is playable after the first playthrough
- get Pizza Tower ESPECIALLY when it's on Steam sale!
Luigi's Mansion (2001)
- Luigi gets his first big game
- 6 year old me on my birthday unboxing the Gamecube for the first time- Luigi's Mansion included
- short and sweet it only takes about 6 hours to finish
- once you finish the game you get a hard mode that changes the layout and difficulty that adds another layer to the short game
- I love that every playthrough feels like a speed run- giving lots of replayabilty
- Nintendo made this scary and never did it again I love how eerie but goofy it can be
- lots of people lived in this mansion and they're all documented with descriptions when you capture them
- The boo collecting will always piss me off they never stay still
- they got Mario in the painting thanks to King Boo
- from spooky sounds to electronic poppy tunes- this soundtrack loves to reinterpret the main theme in fun ways with other songs included
- the Gamecube was my first system meant for me and not handed down from family i'll always thank my dad for this system that started all of this
- i heart video games my first love
Moon Remix RPG Adventure (1997) *finished 4/11/2025*
- "This is love... That is love..."
- this is described as the "anti-rpg"
- it's out of my comfort zone, but I stuck around and finished it
- i haven't felt a game change my perspective in a LONG time
- all this to say it isn't a perfect game at all as it doesn't tell you ANYTHING
- I'd advise you to read this manual before you play the game because it tells you the mechanics and tips you'll need
- this game originally being a PlayStation 1 game in 1997 had a physical manual tell you how to play
- I was very confused when I died and had to reload my save and start the day over
- after you read up on the game mechanics and can finally play the game.... I still felt lost
- this is a walking and talking game- the most action you do is capturing "animals"
- they resemble enemy monsters in traditional RPGs, but the premise is to revive them after being wrongfully slain by the "hero"
- the silent "hero" is someone who is justified in killing these animals, breaking items, and stealing from the townspeople because thats the RPG troupe
- as someone who just got isekai'd into this game, you're tasked with saving these animals and gathering as much "love" as possible
- The main part of the game is getting to know these townspeople and collect the "love" from the interactions you have
- The cast of characters here are wild and cartoony, but there's a sense of getting to know their lives that make them feel more human?
- i still needed guides and playthroughs for parts i got stuck at in all this
- The artstyle, music and character interactions kept me glued despite the hardships I faced- jamming out to tracks I bought from Burrn in a cave
- this game goes slow- even as far as to make you sit for long periods of time to activate further dialog and happenings
- some animal or character interactions require very specific conditions
- for example; one animal required me to stand by until 2am to capture it and only that time
- or having to wait for "Baker" to walk back to the shop after being at the bar- revealing a secret when you walk in unannounced
- there are cool small stories to each character- with conflicts and solutions that wrap the interactions together
- if you have the patience to do ALL of this, i think you'll enjoy your time here
